From Campus to Co-Director: Alumni Thomas Crossley

A moment of celebration for McMaster economics alumni, Dr. Thomas F. Crossley ’98.

Dr. Crossley successfully completed his Ph.D at McMaster in 1998, going on to become a research fellow at Australian National University. He returned to McMaster University as an Assistant Professor in 2001, later becoming an Associate Professor. During his final year as an Associate Professor, Dr. Crossley took on a prestigious role as a Reader at the University of Cambridge in 2006. Throughout his time at Cambridge, Dr. Crossley began his role of Program Director in 2007 for the Institute of Fiscal Studies in London, England. He has continued his academic achievements throughout Europe, Turkey and Italy, before settling in as a Professor at the University of Michigan in 2023.

 

In addition to being a professor, Dr. Crossley’98 is also the Co-director and Senior Economist, Panel Study of Income Dynamics, Survey Research Centre, Institute for Social Research.
Research interests of Dr. Crossley include microeconometrics, economic measurement, household behaviour around financial security and quality of life. As well as survey design, data collection and analysis.
